Okay, let’s get on with it then…

Right then, this is a completely arbitary iPad Case Comparison.  But such things always are down to the views of the person writing.  Choosing a few important factors that would need considering before buying any iPad cover or case.

  • First up, finances.  Well all three are good value.  If price is key though you can’t beat the simple case with stand – its currently selling at a ridiculous price of under $6!  The Acase is a mid range leather model coming in at a little under $30, while the The Tuff Luv model is rather more expensive at a fraction under $60.  But still very good value you when you actually take a closer look, and particularly when compared with other covers in this price range.  And the winner?  Well we can’t ignore a price tag of less than $10 can we?  If all you need is a simple case in leather with a built in stand option 2 it is!
  • Secondly, flip over – built in stand – and all that fancy stuff. It seems pretty near impossible to buy a basic iPad cover.  They all have some gimmick or other going on.  But when you are designing something to match the iPad itself you do have to work hard!  Incorporating some kind of stand is pretty high on most peoples wishes for their cover for the Apple tablet.  After all, you might want to hold it to read stuff from time to time, but this is a multi-purpose device and you also want to rest it at a good angle for typing, or stand it up nearly vertical for watching movies.  A device with so many functions needs a cover to match.  All three in our selection do pretty well.  The Acase model is pretty simple with four stand positions.  The lowest great for typing and the highest fine for viewing video or reading whilst lounging around.  We have to say, the look of the stand is good – sturdy and just a nice design.  The budget cover on the other hand boasts a whopping 13 adjustable positions.  Great for avoiding glare and so on, but it looks awful – this is a real basic flip stand, functional yes, but something to be proud of – not a chance!  The winner has to be the Tuff lUv version – it hasn’t got the most adjustable options but it sits well, and safely in 5 positions between 20 and 70 degrees and certainly isn’t going to let you or your tablet down.
  • Third up – good looking enough for ya? Well, come on the iPad may be a great technological piece of kit but a whole lot of its charm is down to looks and why would you want to spoil that?  This is a close call but I am dismissing the cheapest option 2 – it just doesn’t not scream quality in anyone’s eyes.  It will do, if budget is really tight.  But if you want your Apple iPad to look as good in its cover as it does without it choose one of the others.  If quality of real leather is important to your sense of style there is no contest – the Tuff Luv Multivew for iPad has it all.
  • Finally customer iPad case reviews.  You can see the feedback customers have left by clicking through the links for each ipad case above.   I tend to focus on the ‘verified purchaser’ reviews because you can see some obvious spam or simply peculiar reviews that are obviously not genuine.  But, in a nutshell the verdict is unanimous.  All will protect the tablet to some degree and provide a handy stand option wherever you are.  The budget model though is thin and flimsy and not fitted quite as well as it might be to avoid overlapping the display.  But on the whole it still gets a reasonable four out of five stars because it you expect a budget model it wworks more than well enough for the price.  The Acase is fine.  It holds the tablet tightly and has an elastic strap to keep the cover closed when not in use – important for keeping the screen safe.  It is not made of the highest quality leather – but for the money it is good-looking, lightweight and practical.  Tuff Luv win for quality but you do have to pay for it and that is something not everyone wants to do.

So the overall winner?  The best leather iPad Case around this month?  It’s a tough call, but for simple good looks and incredible value for money it is probably the Acase Leather iPad Case with Stand.  But it is a close call.  Don’t dismiss the Tuff Luv cases for the iPad on price alone though.  Yes you can certainly buy cheaper leather cases, but not with the same high spec and attention to detail.  However, just to confuse the issue, if your budget will stretch we’d go for the Piel Frama iPad Case simply because it is the most affordable luxury iPad case around.  The Acase might be more practical but everyone will want your Piel Frama one!  If you don’t care about leather, check out our Best iPad Cases post for a little more variety in your iPad protection.
