This leather pouch is ideal for holding the Kindle 3 securely.  With a size of 6 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ (16.5cm x 21.6cm) on its outside edge it is neat and compact, but will hold a multitude of other gadgets too.  This is not for everyone.  But as far as simple sleeves to keep your ebook reader safe and dust free without the hassle of clips, cheap Velcro or hinges it is a delightful option.

  • The leather.  Well this is 4-5oz full grain leather – basically the highest quality you are likely to find – thicker than the stuff work-boots are made of!
  • Stitching.  Marine grade polyester stitching is used to ensure this, the weakest point never fails.
  • General.  The pouch is made from one piece of leather at the front and one at the back.  This minimises the amount of stitching required keeping the whole thing strong and good looking.
  • Lining is pig-skin which is about as tough as is gets.
  • Overall.  Yes you pay a bit more but you get a top quality cover that will most certainly outlive your Kindle!  No fear though, since it is such a classic and simple design you will be able to find uses for it for years to come with all your future gadgets and gizmos!

The Timbuk2 Quilted Kindle Envelope offers a little more padding and protection for your ebook reader than your average Kindle 3 sleeve.   I have to say we were pretty happy with their standard nylon Kindle sleeve but I guess it all depends on how much bashing about your reader is likely to get.

Their nylon quilted envelope offers the same easy care tough nylon exterior but with two bonuses.  First up you get a soft fluffy fake fur lining that will keep your Kindle free from scratches and secondly a memory foam core that will absorb a lot more shock for your buck than many other Kindle sleeves.

You can read all customer reviews of the Timbuk2 quilted Kindle sleeve via the links at the top of the page.  At the time of writing the overall response to the product has been incredible with 23 out of 27 reviewers giving the maximum 5 out of 5 stars.  The other 3 gave 4 stars which is still pretty impressive and goes to show what a high quality product this particular case for the Kindle is.

Protective Kindle Sleeves

The stitching and memory foam are designed to absorb impacts so keeping your reader safe.  A simple Velcro fastener keeps the envelope closed and allows for quick and easy access when you want to use your device.  This is another well fitting case that is perfect for those that do not want a jacket getting in the way of enjoying the lightweight Kindle as it is.

If you have a jacket the chances are you won’t get your covered reader into this sleeve, but that’s all for the better it means this Kindle sleeve is designed perfectly to protect the reader and stop it moving around.  You’ll need something bigger if you want to have a jacket on your Kindle 3 too.

The Timbuk2 quilted Kindle sleeve offers high impact protection within a slim profile comfy feeling nylon case.   A few nice touches include contrast details and fake fur lining, but this is above all practical and tough.

M-Edge Touring Kindle Sleeves are pretty hot at the moment and it is hardly surprising since their simple, no-nonsense design and range of fun colors makes them the ideal partner for the new lighter Kindle on the move.  If you are looking for something that stays on the Kindle all the time, providing a jacket for protection whilst reading look away.  This is a simple sleeve that gives your eBook Reader loads of protection when you aren’t using it and allows you to enjoy the “naked Kindle reading” experience.

The sleeve features a double zipper for secure closure and easy access for charging your device without removing it from its protective cover.  On the front is another large zippered pocket for whatever else you want to keep handy with your eReader.  M-Edge suggest you use it for carrying your charger around.  But to be honest it makes the sleeve a little less sleek and a whole lot more bulky if you do this.  Personally, with such a long battery life I rarely see a nee to carry a charger around anyway so this is not an issue I think you should be overly concerned about.

In addition you also get a zippered handle on the long edge.  This provides a great practical handle should you wish to carry your device without a bag, but is unobtrusive enough not to get in the way if you don’t use it.  I admit I would rather just hold it as it is or pop it into by back-pack but having the option is nice and I am sure some would use it often.

The reason I have included them in our Best Kindle Covers selection though is because of that simple design.  The neoprene outer is really tough but easy to keep clean and the soft grey polar fleece interior just makes me feel all fuzzy!  On a more serious note, this lightweight Kindle sleeve has some decent core reinforcement too so the device and screen are given ample protection whilst safely inside.

The M-Edge Touring Kindle Sleeve is good looking, simple and comes in a great range of colors making it a fab choice for those that want to read their Kindle naked yet offer it some personality and great protection when it isn’t be used.
