Best Kindle Sleeve (New Kindle 4 and Kindle Touch)

The latest envelope style Kindle 4 case from Built is funky, fun and ever so protective! As usual its hard working neoprene with super fluffy soft interior. Small velcro pads hold the whole thing shut, and you still get the traditional Built hourglass shape.

There are also some new color-ways which we love (though ScatterDot still wins as far as we’re concerned – you simply cannot leave your Kindle behind if its got one of these bright covers on! )

Of course Built are still producing their more simple open topped pocket come sleeve. It is still great but there is one word of slight warning. Because they have produced just one size to fit both the Kindle 4 and the Kindle Touch you will find the fit not quite so snug on the Kindle 4 as with the old keyboard models and their sleeves. It isn’t exactly loose, it just isn’t as tight as you would expect if you had the previous incarnation.

Best Kindle 4 Cover

Well, we had to rank the lighted Kindle 4 cover pretty high didn’t we? I know they have had a few issues in the past, but overall (price aside), you can’t deny it is a genius idea. Available for both the Kindle Touch and smaller Kindle 4, and in a new range of more subtle color-ways we still love them!

Lightweight yet still good quality leather, these are the only ones to choose if you want a classic book-style jacket without the rigmarole of needing to attach an external book-light when reading in bed.

Of course there is one slight caveat regarding the lighted Kindle covers; yes you’ve guessed it the price! Now they are reasonably good value for money if you want a leather case, and would stump up for a good quality reading light too. But, when you consider you will be paying $59 for a case and possibly only $79 for the reader itself, they can seem pretty pricey!

Best Flip Case & Stand For New Kindle 4 & Kindle Touch

Finally, for now at least we feel the Marware Eco-Flip case deserves a mention. To be honest, the choice of new Kindle 4 cases and covers is relatively limited. This probably has something to do with the latest Readers being relatively new, and something to do with their lower price tags (presumably people generally won’t spend as much on accessories as they did when the gadgets were more expensive.

But there are still a few gems out there, and the Marware Eco-flip case is one. Available in a variety of colors (hot pink still a personal fave!), these are simple and offer great protection as well as a lightweight stand system (not complicated extra bits and bobs to add weight, simply flip the cover over and stand up!).

The leather, as ever with Marware products is soft and kinder to the planet than many other leather goods. It does come with corner straps, something I am personally not really a fan of. But since I cannot see how else the flip stand would work without being really bulky I am willing to forgive them this minor issue!

All in all not bad value if you like reading over your morning cereal!

The original Snugg iPad cover with flip stand was a huge success, so it comes as no surprise to find the Snugg Mark II for the Apple iPad 2nd generation.

This is a pretty chunky and solid looking folio style cover with flip stand.  Made of genuine leather with a soft nubuck interior that will protect the tablet’s display, this is tough, rugged and good quality at a price you can afford.

This cover probably isn’t going to win any awards.  It is not trying to be clever or adventurous.  Instead Snugg are sticking with a tried and tested design that buyers love for its tough and practical approach to tablet protection.  We give it a thumbs up as the leather is good quality and the overall design will keep anyone that wants a simple yet protective iPad 2 case very happy indeed.

With its simple design and lightweight good looks you might expect the Acase to be a whole lot more expensive than it is.  This is a surprisingly cheap Kindle cover, yet the feel and look of the leather is on a par with some far more expensive versions.  No it isn’t a luxury case but it is a great buy for the money.

The whole thing is kept shut with a secure magnetic fastener, which makes it perfect for those that aren’t fans of the common elastic strap fasteners.  Inside is a slip pocket for goodness knows what, and a simple corner clasp arrangement to secure the ebook reader safely inside.  The soft microfiber black lining should keep your Kindle’s display scratch free, but just to be sure Acase have been kind enough to throw in a free screen protector too!

The design fits well and doesn’t cover the front of the tablet, giving a great stream lined look to the whole thing.  This hard sided cover offers three viewing angles to prop up your tablet (all in landscape mode).

So soon after the release of the Targus VuScape iPad 2 cover with stand it might be a surprise to find so many customer reviews already written.  You can view them all by clicking the image at the top of the page.  The overall impression from customers is extremely positive, with an average 4 our of 5 stars.  The key points mentioned so far include:

The pale blue microfiber lining offers good scratch protection for the display, but also adds a little bit of contrast and style to the whole thing, as to does the contrast stitching on the outside.  This may be a super practical case with stand but it is also a rather good looking cover in its own right too.

Targus 360 iPad 2 Case Reviews

Well so far of course there aren’t hundreds of reviews of any iPad 2 cases yet.  But the Targus 360 case had a great start, with a 4.5 average star rating out of a possible 5.

Overall the comments focus on the following areas:

• rich, elegant look
• great smooth swivel action
• practical with great protection
• high quality finish

On the down side there is an elastic strap to hold it closed.  Some customers are concerned about the durability of such a closure.  We can understand that you might wonder how stretchy the elastic might remain. But check out the best sellling Kindle covers with their elastic straps that last for years and we don’t think this should be a concern.  The only other real negative response concerns the smell.  As with many electronics accessories this one is supplied with quite a strong plast

This is an ingenious cover that is likely to become one of the more popular choices for those needing a hard shell cover with built in stand, and ultimate flexibility.

The fact that Targus managed to get the 360 case on store shelves in time for the launch of the 2nd generation iPad has probably helped too.  Whilst many accessories are released for pre-order only when the iPad 2 arrives, the Targus 360 is shipping immediately.

Beautiful, practical and great quality, the Targus 260 Degrees iPad 2 case is most definitely a winner as far as great iPad cases are concerned.

For the ultimate flexible leather iPad case you simply have to consider the Tuff Luv range of iPad cases.  We have already had a quick look at their Multi-View iPad Case.  But what if you one goal in life is to stand your tablet up vertically rather than horizontally?  No problem the Bi-Axis case for iPad is just what you need with its various straps it folds around into just about every possible way you could want to stand a tablet up!

Hey even if you don’t want leather they have you covered.  The Bi-Axis case comes in Napa leather (strong, soft and durable) in a range of colors (black, pink, red, brown), patent high gloss leather, faux leather (I must admit I’m not a fan of faux anything but I guess it supplies a need), super georgeous (but a little more pricey) Western Saddle leather hide and a soft suede looking micro-fiber version.

So the range of every conceivable iPad case material is covered, your viewing angles are covered, but is the Bi-Axis any good?  Well there are many pros to this case and a few cons too I’m afraid.  None of them are a surprise though when you look at the cover, indeed they are what makes it great!

Well the pros are great.  It’s affordable, it offers excellent protection for the iPad inside and you have the option to stand the tablet at various angles, and in both portrait and landscape mode.  The quality is good, you get a sound leather product with a decent warranty and some little Eco credentials too, since the company minimise the use of harmful chemicals in their production.

The cons pretty much speak for themselves.  All that padding, protection and standing make this a far from lightweight or slim iPad case.  Also all the straps that allow you to prop the tablet at various angles make for some work.  Yes if you want to quickly turn the iPad from one angle in portrait, to landscape you have a few twists and turns of all those straps to negotiate.

Overall though, if you really will use the full functionality of this Bi-Axis multi view iPad case, the Tuff Luv case cannot be beaten.  Don’t get this though if standing your iPad is something you rarely expect to do or you’ll be adding weight and bulk for no real benefit.  This is a great leather iPad case if you want to use it fully.

Sleeves, Skins, Pouches, Cases and Covers

The first thing to think about is just how you want to use your device.  Do you want something that protects it all the time, or just when it is being carried around?  Do you want to have a little protection all the time, or lots?  Does you iPad mostly stay at home, safe and sound, needing only a smidgen of extra protection from dust and dirt?  Are you the clumsiest tablet owner in the world, or do you live in the company of unruly toddlers that enjoy throwing your gadgets around?  Thinking about all of this should help you come up with the best solution for caring for your tablet.

Sleeves, Pouches and Carry Cases

These are for those of you that want protection for your tablet when you aren’t using it.  Safety when carting your iPad around, not when you’re actually having fun using it.

For those that want to use it as Apple intended, unencumbered by additional cases and covers an iPad pouch is the answer.  A simple pouch such as the Saddleback Leather iPad pouch is basically just a pocket to put your gadget in.  These are great for when it’s left on your desk, or being carried around in a secure back-pack or bag.  Most will be a tight fit, maybe coping with a shell covered iPad but probably not.

An iPad sleeve will usually come with a secure closure.  Most popular are simple zip up neoprene sleeves, but you can get a little bit more experimental too.  You might have extra pockets for peripherals, cards and papers.  These will cope with carrying around your iPad in your hands.  Great for getting on the plane luggage light!  Many will accommodate an iPad that is protected with an additional skin or shell too but it is worth checking if this is what you need.

An iPad carry case will offer the most protection.  Extra pockets, straps or handles for carrying the device.  You should be able to fit an iPad that is wearing a folio cover or skin into these easily.  These are basically small laptop bags, so may be soft sided or hard shell, but should offer great padding and a secure fit so your tablet isn’t floating around inside.  If you’re a regular traveller you might want to look for one that allows you to use the device whilst still inside so you don’t have to find somewhere to put your case whilst sitting on a crowded train for example.

iPad Skins and Shells

These are the most common solutions bought today, giving some bump protection, and improved grip to the device at all times.  There are a variety of designs of offer, but we suggest you avoid the cheapest options and read customer reviews as the fit can vary hugely, and frankly a poorly fitting skin is pointless.  Your iPad was an investment and you don’t need to spend a fortune to ensure it is looked after properly.

Skins

These are usually silicone or rubber and will hold the device extremely snugly.  You want a good fit with great access to all the controls as your tablet will be inside this extra case at all times.  Basically the iPad simply sits inside a silicone framework which means the back, corners and front edges are giving some extra shock absorption and you can get a better grip on the device.  The touch-screen however is not shielded from anything so most users apply a good quality transparent screen protector too.

If you carry your device around inside another bag you’ll need some form of sleeve or case to look after it and make sure nothing scratches the display.  Textured designs such as the iPad Pixel Skin are great for giving extra padding and improving grip even further.  The only drawback for some is silicone’s remarkable ability to attract dust and lint, but frankly a quick rinse over (after removing the iPad of course ) shouldn’t cause too much work!

iPad Shells

These are skins with a little more protective power.  Usually hard cases they fit a lot like a skin, but tend to come with a removable screen guard included.  Choose one where the front panel can be mounted on the back or you’ll be left with a spare piece of iPad sized plastic to house or lose on the commute.

By combining a polycarbonate skeleton with a silicone outer products like the Otterbox Defender iPad case provide exceptional protection for the device inside.  Shells do add a little weight and bulk to the device, but not much and most will fit easily inside a carry case or zippered sleeve.

Folio Covers and iPad Cases With Stands

Now we get onto the more protective and versatile stuff.  These are the traditional cover we often think of.  Often made of leather these give the iPad the look of a large planner when shut, but open out into all manner of variables providing support for the iPad to make typing or watching movies without a docking station more comfortable.

The cheapest leather is often pretty low quality, but you don’t need to pay a fortune for something great.  Just check customer reviews so you know the fit is going to be good and that access to controls will be comfortable and easy.

Simple flip stands such as the Marware Eco-Flip for iPad are the simplest solution, folding over to hold the tablet horizontally.  But if you want the most versatile offering something like the Tuff Luv iPad Case range might be cool.  You can flip, swivel and basically stand the iPad however you like!

These kinds of iPad covers and cases remain on your device constantly.  This gives peace of mind if you like to drop your gadgets, but of course does add weight and bulk to the item you are carrying around which is something to think about before buying.

A self clinging adhesive film is included to ensure your touch-screen remains free from scratches but works as it should.  The important bit though is the pressure molded silicone shell itself that has an inner core to dissipate shocks away from the device should you knock or drop your pricey new iPhone.

All the ports and controls are openly accessible, and the camera cut out is extra large so as not to interfere with the flash output.

you to take time opening.  This is what makes it great so long as made well.  Thankfully Built have produced a sleeve with such a snug fit for the Kindle 3 Reader that there are no worries about it not protecting the device.  And, best of all that curvy shape means you get some added bumper protection on the corner edges, where you are most likely to knock your Kindle.
