The all new lighted leather Kindle Cover is a delight! Yes I want to read in bed and not disturb my partner. But I don’t really want an awkward or heavy book light, and I certainly do not want to be worrying about batteries for it. As before you get a choice of eight color options – all rather attractive in their own right (apple green, steel blue, hot pink, burgundy red, chocolate brown, burnt orange or plain old go with anything black). All covers have a full leather exterior and microfiber lining that keeps dust and dirt away from the Kindle display.
The key advantage of the lighted cover though is that the hinge system that hooks the Kindle in place is gold plated. This conducts a little bit of power away from the device and to the book-light. That means you never have to worry about batteries. The LED light slides completely out of the way when not in use. When you pull the light out it switches on, illuminating the entire page for you, but without sending light out elsewhere.
The Kindle Cover closes with the help of a large strap so this one won’t open without warning in your bag. The leather is supple enough to allow you to fold the front cover completely back so you can read with one hand comfortably.
It is true that at the time the Kindle 3 was released there was not much choice for those wanting to order a new Kindle 3 cover too. But at least those that were made available in time for the Kindle’s release were perfectly formed and tailored exceedingly well to those wanting a lightweight product that protects but does not destroy the portability of the new reader.
